I sometimes wonder why more people aren't libertarians: Pet sitting is banned in New York City.

I sometimes wonder why more people aren't libertarians II: Massachusetts wants to ban secret compartments in vehicles. I think there's already a ban in Ohio.

I love that episode of Firing Line! I first watched it a couple years ago when I was reading Higgs' "I Have America Surrounded." The episode with Ed Sanders, Kerouac, and some Professor about the Hippies is also very good and a poignant portrait of the by then tattered Kerouac.

Happy RAW Day to everyone! Kallisti!

Best part is where Buckley gets irritated with Leary for pronouncing Augustine of Hippo's name the same as St. Augustine, Florida.

Vladimir Nabokov (one of my favorite writers) was a big Borges fan. There's a blog posting listing the authors he liked and disliked, and it makes amusing reading (something to cheer or offend everyone)
