Pip's 23 Haiku

Pipzi on Twitter; I thought she was Welsh, but it says Orkney

I was happy to see Pip Williams' "23 Haiku" in New Trajectories 2; I liked her haiku in the first issue and I sometimes see her work as I follow her on Twitter. 

Here are a couple I liked:

                                           he suffocated
                                           a wave of zen literature
                                           broke over him

                                           cops pepper spraying
                                           the eye in the pyramid
                                           for seeing too much

Buckminster Fuller's lectures

The excellent Open Culture Web site has posted "Everything I Know," 42 hours of lectures by Buckminster Fuller. (I have an interview of Fuller by RAW that I will post when I manage to find time to transcribe it.)

William Gibson remembering Timothy Leary:

"We’d bump into one another on the VR rubber chicken circuit. Barcelona, Linz, Venice… He was really great to have at your table. Kept the evening in flux. And people would come up to him and give him drugs, which he’d give to someone else, usually a perfect stranger, as soon as the gifter was gone. He said that this was a win-win proposition, as the first person could now say that he’d given drugs to Timothy Leary, and the second person that Timothy Leary had given him drugs. I never saw him look to see what was in the envelope."

Zen haiku from Wales

Via Roman Tsivkin, I recently discovered a Twitter account I like very much: Pip Williams' Twitter account, which mostly sends out new haiku. Lots of evocations of the Welsh countryside, quite a bit of Zen, a little bit of many other topics. Some of my favorites so far:

across the valley
orange streetlights echo the
ancient glow of stars

at my support group
for eremophobia
no one else showed up

washing the dishes
other lights, other kitchens
other peoples' lives

the master who makes
the grass green seems vague about
lots of other stuff

fundamentally
said hui-neng, sixth patriarch
not one thing exists

the blue sky, the sun
usher in spring's bright riot
a gateless gate

in buddha's footsteps
i will walk, a cat, stalking
i accept my doom
