Sunday links

Tyler Cowen. Between his blog and Arthur Hlavaty's  you can learn a lot. Tyler is better known as a public intellectual, but Hlavaty is a better-known fan.

Nice "Eris of the Month" at Historia Discordia.

Locus Award winners, via Supergee. More different from Hugos than in usual years. Would like to have seen Cixin Liu win for best novel, but the Ann Leckie (second book of a trilogy) is quite good.

The economics of California water, e.g. government at work.

Tyler Cowen on gay marriage.

Nice RAW quote.

I know Tyler Cowen. He was my team mate in the 1975 U.S. Team Amateur chess tournament which we won, first place! I also played him at least once in another chess tournament back then.
According to Wikipedia it's the same Tyler Cohen from Bergen County New Jersey.

Small world considering how a shared interest in Robert Anton Wilson led me to you and your site, and we both got to know Wilson.

I love the way the Internet makes it easier to make these connections. I gather you haven't stayed in touch with Tyler?
