Talking Heads had the American Medical Association look

Does anyone besides me think of the Talking Heads when the American Medical Association, a clean-cut band featuring a blonde woman, are described in Illuminatus! ?

"Four owl-eyed faces stared at him. They were dressed in one-piece white suits ... " Above, a white suited performance.

Interesting. I never thought of that before. I always thought of Kraftwerk.

I can see the resemblance. Maybe Shea and Wilson precogged the Talking Heads because they write as talking heads?

Tim Leary loved David Byrne.

Talking Heads got together a bit too late (1975) to have made it into the original Illuminatus! mss. Like Eric, I thought of Kraftwerk, formed in 1970.

The Talking Heads certainly had a groomed image. When I get home I'll check David Byrne's book on music to look up his motivations behind the clean cut look and excerpt it here.

Devo is another good candidate. It'd be really weird if there were a band with eyeballs for heads. Almost too illuminating for me to handle.

The Residents used Eyeball masks.
