Authors who aren't rich enough to hire a staffer often have to resort to a form letter to deal with getting lots of correspondence; Arthur C. Clarke had one, and I think Robert Heinlein, too. I know now that Robert Anton Wilson had a form letter, too, one that was quite witty.
