Steve Fly (Pratt) releases Shakespeare album

The latest album released on Bandcamp by Steve "Fly" Pratt is As You Like It, inspired by the Shakespeare play of the same name.

At Bandcamp, Steve explains:

"This suite of bespoke music for Shakespeare's pastoral comedy play: As You Like It, is made for soundtracking the performance LIVE. Together with The Shakespeare Performance Workshop, directed by William Sutton, this DJ feels fortunate to be invited to contribute and get stuck into the theatrical treat.

"The play is scheduled for 2 performances at the Mullholland Academy 16/17th. And 2 at Mikes Badhuis Theatre: 18/19th December. Tickets are available. [Both locations in Amsterdam]

"released December 7, 2024."

'Tales of Illuminatus' paper copies are shipping

In his latest Substack newsletter, Bobby Campbell offers another update to the online version of Tales of Illuminatus and provides a report on the shipping of paper copies:

"Orders have been placed and print/shipping files have been provided for our KS fulfillment of Tales of Illuminatus! #1 :)))

"North American orders are being printed and shipped by https://ka-blam.com/

"Who estimate orders should arrive by October 14th, though they also note that they are currently being hit by a hurricane, so we might have to give them a day or two of grace.

"European orders are being printed and shipped by https://mixam.co.uk/

"Who haven't provided a solid date yet, but mostly because they're shipping to darn near every country on the continent, so the shipping prices are still being worked out."

Robert Anton Wilson on AI

Illustration for new track posted at Steve "Fly" Pratt's new Substack.

Steve "Fly" Pratt posts a short piece by RAW that resonates with all of the recent news about advances in AI. I don't want to spoil it by summarizing it; it's not very long, just read it.

Also, note that Steve has launched a new Substack.

Steve Pratt releases 'Deep Scratch Remix'

Steve Pratt has released Deep Scratch Remix, his book examining the effects of AI and technology on creativity, and also has released the companion music album.

Blurb for the book:

"In the face of the ever-growing capabilities of language models, generative AI, and the ability to convert text to images, code, music, and video (and vice versa), one must ask: what is art now? Is it any good? If I experiment with these tools will my reputation be scrambled?

"In 2023, the effects of large language models on cognitive and technological processes are being felt by us all, creeping out from TV news headlines and a flurry of articles, plus the masses of output itself. Artists, musicians, and DJs have experienced the negative impacts of digital tech innovation and regulation (or deregulation) over the past 30 years, and LLMs are like jet fuel to the fire. A large portion of illustrators, painters, digital visual artists, and writers are already feeling the financial repercussions of being replaced by those who do not value the original creators so much, some of whom are my good friends and associates. Digital advertisements, populist political mudslinging, and the wasteland of un-social media are quick to adopt cheaper, automated solutions. They’ve been going down this route for over 25 years."

Steve has a website for both projects. You can listen to the album at the Bandcamp link, but I also have  embedded it, above, so you can check it out.
