Social media update

While there are still RAW fans on X.com, there has been a definite shift over to Bluesky, continuing a trend I wrote about earlier. 

I'm still on both, as I still find both useful. There are quite a few accounts that seem to mostly if not always post on Bluesky rather than Twitter. A couple of examples: the "Robert Anton Wilson" account maintained by Bobby Campbell is only posting daily on Bluesky now, and Bluesky also is where to go to follow RAW Semantics. But the Robert Anton Wilson Trust is only on X, at least for now. Many post at both places, e.g. Jesse Walker for example. 

On both services, I tend to rely on my own lists rather than the feeds offered by the company. On Bluesky, for example, I mostly rely on my "Illuminating" list. 

I am on Facebook, too, but try not to spend too much time there. 

On Twitter, everyone will be famous for 15 seconds

Last week, after a smear campaign began in an attempt to discredit Glenn Greenwald, the journalist who worked with Edward Snowden to break the news about NSA spying, Greenwald's supporters counterattacked on Twitter with #ggscandals, a mock list of other possible blights to Greenwald's reputation. (The political context is an ongoing feud on Twitter between civil liberties supporters and Obama loyalists who despise Greenwald. It's one front of the larger war on Twitter over the NSA scandal and its meaning. Almost all my Twitter friends are battling the National Security State Axis.) My son Richard, who teaches English in South Korea, called my attention to the hashtag and we both contributed Tweets to it. Aside from the pushback to the attacks on Greenwald, it was fun to try to come up with a funny Tweet.

YES! magazine sorted through the hundreds of Tweets using the hashtag and did an article on the top 10 Tweets. My son and I both made the cut. You can see the article here.

RAWilson 23 Twitter account

I'm been more active on Twitter lately (as "jacksontom") and I've recent begun following, and am being followed, by RAWilson23, a Twitter account only identified by a link to the official site. It's a useful fan account that Tweets quotations, cool Wilson stuff on the Internet, etc.
