I actually just finished Brood of the Witch Queen. Rohmer is such an entertaining writer, even when his protagonist sit around lamenting the fact they can't just burn the villain at the stake because its the twentieth century. Positively lurid.

I've been reading The Manuscript Found in Saragossa lately for one of my Halloween reads. While not particularly frightening the tale is replete with demons, seductive Moorish princesses who may be demons, Kabbalists, etc. Very moody setting as well. I also have been rereading some of Lord Dunsany and Clark Ashton Smith's more sinister tales.
