I have been listening to a lot of material from ECM lately on Spotify, especially Eberhard Weber.
I like that Iverson list, especially the two Art Ensemble tracks.
I read the thing about InstaGram and was not surprised. I've actually never looked at InstaGram at all, but I've read what people say they "learned" on it and it was just too maddening and depressing, gotta admit.
Here's the thing; when on Substack I can tell when someone is a regular InstaGram user just by their Notes. Last night I read about Epstein and his friends "eating babies"...on Substack. So Substack is NOT purely "adults" with education and discernment. Not even close!
I can't believe the dipshittery in some articles, which strongly suggest the writer is either a heavy InstaGram user (or some other antisocial media?) or combining patently absurd ideas with AI use. And their articles have 50x the "likes" that mine do, with 50-200 one-sentence comments.
Most troubling to me: it's very difficult for me to tell, but a lot of seemingly educated adult women use other forms of antisocial media and it informs their feminism, which pretty much always use the logic of
Some men treat women like crap
Therefore all men are bad.
I'm not savvy enough to know about fakes, Russian disinfo, etc. But the vile, unsubtle crap on Substack about "men" reminds me of RAW's defenses of Men against this kind of shit...which would go NOWHERE on Substack.
If I made his arguments: that semantically, these feminists are using "men" like Hitler used "Jews" it would make me a Very Bad Male indeed.
It's the overall stupid-making of anti-social media that I find so disheartening about it. So much of what I read seems utterly untethered from facts, plausibility, verisimilitude, not to mention good faith discourse about ideas.

On the other hand, mass generalization, prejudice, and "vile, unsubtle crap" is completely acceptable when it comes to billionaires and "tech bros."
